Paul Tiu
Born in the magical streets of Downey, CA, Paul was first introduced to dance at the age of 12. His parents forced him to sit and watch while they learned their cha-cha and salsa steps at a local ballroom dance studio. Over the next few years, Paul was heavily influenced by his brother's and sister's love for pop culture. Nsync, Usher, Britney Spears, and Michael Jackson were just a few of the many artists Paul was inspired by during his teenage years.
In 2003, Paul joined his first community dance crew, UrbanYouth, which was started by his fellow high school friends (special shout outs to Sonny, Simbol, Eddie Boy, and Carlin). By October 2004, Paul then went on to become a part of the newly established Future Shock Los Angeles under the direction of Stacy Kuramoto and Arnel Calvario. Eventually, Paul would continue on to be a part of Culture Shock Los Angeles family in October of 2006.
After his acceptance to the University of California, Irvine in the Fall of 2006, Paul then moved on to the collegiate dance scene. He became a member of Kaba Modern beginning in the Winter of 2007. During his last year of three on Kaba Modern, he was invited to Surreal, a dance crew originating in Lake Forest (shout outs to Shawn, Tuan, Chris and the boyz!).
He has recently finished his term as one of the three Co-Coordinators of 2009. Now, as a member of KM Legacy, Paul plans to continue and spread his passion for dance, nonstop positivity, and his love for a family throughout his everyday life.
After college, in the dance scene at least, Paul wishes to partly train once again with the Culture Shock Los Angeles family and hopes to fulfill and live by one of CSLA's famous quotes, 'roots before branches'. Another goal of Paul's after college is to possibly run his once dance studio, hopefully to give back what his parents taught and showed him in ballroom. He plans to teach and instruct the same, if not more, dance steps his parents first introduced to him as a child.
